The Books I Read In April 2022

April was an interesting month! From traveling to and fro, starting fertility treatments, and feeling a little slumpy and stretched thin generally to finding joy in baking and season 2 of Bridgerton, I feel like I barely read a wink lol. But I'm currently still obsessing over the world of Daughter of Smoke and Bone (through book 2!) and I can't wait to continue with the third book, and these rom-coms tooootally pulled me through my slumpiness and brought me so much joy!

— a little review —

This series. I am loving it SO very much.

While it took me a minute to get into the second book - as is usual for me in series - I found this installment just as good as the first! Heartwarming and beautiful, gut-wrenching and tragic.

Laini's writing!!! I can't get enough. And more talk of those hummingbird moths I love so much and then there was Ziri, and Zuzana and Mik! Oof, and Akiva and his siblings...!

My heart is so full with these characters and this story. I can't wait to continue it!

Flirting with Fate

— a little review —

Well, this story just made me happy. The whole concept. The prologue hooked me. Fate enticed me. The sisterly banter made me smile. And the destiny of it all just pulled at my heartstrings and resonated with me so much.

This is a story about family, fate and destiny, and mystical blessings with a touch of supernatural and just a little bit of romance.

This book, while easy and light hearted, feels so magical and transcendent, sweet and heartfelt, and beautifully penned. It will touch your heart and leave you wanting more!

Funny Feelings

— a little review —

This was such a beautiful and hilarious story! I smiled, I snort-laughed, I swooned.

My heart melted from the start with the author's note and dedication, and Tarah's writing and prose is so top-notch that it'll make you compulsively read until the last page.

I loved the dynamic between Fee, Meyer, and Hazel, the overarching theme of being open and putting yourself out there, loving yourself through thick and thin, and the importance of taking care of your mental health.

*big sigh* Can't wait for more from Tarah!

A Brush with Love

— a little review —

This book made me very happy. I took it down in a weekend and I do believe it got me out of a reading slump!

A slow burn romance with feeling and vulnerability, anxiety rep, great friendships, and loosing & finding yourself in your person. It was cozy and sweet, witty and charming. I loved it!

Can't wait for more from this series and Mazey.

What can I say?

This was PERFECT. It was sexy, it was serious, it was snarky. All the best things! With a flirtatious, chemistry-filled, nemesis to lovers romance, fun family dynamics, and self acceptance, this book is sure to put a perma-grin on your face, make you burst with LOLs, and get you out of a reading slump.

Scott and Crystal ARE MY FAVE. Eeeep!! I cannot wait for more from Amy.

Life Update

This month we were finally able to start fertility treatments. We started the process overall in February doing diagnostic testing and getting acquainted with the clinic we chose, but we had to take March for a minor procedure to prepare and so we could have the best results with the treatment. I ended up having a polyp in my uterus that need to be removed, but the good news is both of my fallopian tubes are still open!

So, this month ended up being filled with travel to and from the clinic and local fertility monitoring, fertility medicine and daily injections for a time, plus lots of tasty treats to counteract all of the self injections! From homemade chocolate chip cookies and blueberry muffins to discovering a new ice cream spot, a nitrogen creamery to be exact (!!), all these sweet treats definitely made up for all exhaustion, early mornings, hours on the road, and especially, the injections.
