7 Books I Can’t Get Enough Of (so far) This Year
— aka My Top Favorite Books of the Year so far —
It’s June!! That means we’re halfway through the year. I can’t believe it. I feel like I say this every year, but time has flown by! And I’ve read so many good books this year already. For Christmas, I got a reading journal that has a lot of cool tracking methods for your reading experience. I’ve tried really hard to keep up with it, especially to help with picking favorites. I’m sooo bad at picking them (it’s just really hard deciding on them!), but I thought I might try keeping a closer handle on it from the get-go and so far, understanding my top favorites this year has been so much easier. At the end of each month, I’ll take a look at all the books I’ve read and decide which one(s) stood out to me the most. And that’s my top favorite! Now, there will of course still be others that I really, really liked and that still mean a lot to me, but I love the idea of picking one top favorite per month. In my case, though, I actually have 2 top favorites for January at the moment and I’ve yet to pick my favorite for June. So, you know, I don’t always like to follow the rules lol! But I’m sure it’ll all even out as the year moves on.

My Reading Journal
First, I’d thought I’d showcase my reading journal! Now, I certainly haven’t used this to it’s full extent - which is typical of me and journals/planners - BUT, the features I’ve consistently used are really great tools, in my opinion. The ones I’ve been using the most are the Genre Tracker and Top Favorite of the Year Bracket.
And now onto the books!
1 // January
CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF #1
Aurora’s End by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
My favorite things about this finale were the time loop, hive mind, and telekenetic powers!
CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF #2
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
I really loved the unique fantasy elements and feel of the romance in this one.
2 // February
Flock by Kate Stewart
The greatest thing about this book is how all-consuming and addictive the story is.
3 // March
All My Rage by Sabaa Tahir
What I loved the most about this story was how powerful and moving it was. It left it’s mark for sure!
4 // April
Set On You by Amy Lea
The best thing about this book was the perma-grin it left on my face — the exaggerated humor and cheesey one-liners are hands down the greatest.
5 // May
People We Meet On Vacation by Emily Henry
This was the most perfect book I have ever read with the best friends to lovers story.
BONUS: Another January Read
Running Wild by K.A. Tucker
This. Was. Perfect. From the start, I loved the whole vibe of this book and felt so very much at home.

Oh hey, friend!

IT’S TIME. It’s time to read 23 backlist books in 2023! For me and my reading goals for the year, this challenge complimented it perfectly. I have so many unread, owned books from years past that’s IT’S TIME to focus there. And okay, hear me out, there’s actually 27 books on my list LOL. But regardless, here they are. The 27 backlist books I plan to read in 2023 and the 23 in 2023 challenge I’m participating in!
