If You Loved This, Read This | Part 1
If You Loved This, Read This - Part One
I love getting book recommendations based on stories I’ve already loved. I also enjoy spotting similarities between books and recommending them based on those things. One recommendation that was given to me early in my Bookstagram career was Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Crescent City. A new book friend let me know that since I loved Crescent City so much - mostly due to the angels and demons trope at the time - she told me I’d really enjoy Daughter of Smoke and Bone! And now that I’ve read both, I can say for absolute certainty this is a great recommendation. So let’s dive into Part One of my If You Love This, Read This blog series!
If You Love Lyrical, Poetic Writing
For my first recommendation, I’ve paired two authors — Shea Ernshaw and Isabel Ibanez. And specifically their books, Winterwood and Woven In Moonlight (respectively). Both authors just have a way with words! If you love smooth, lyrical, poetic, beautiful, stirring writing styles and prose, both of these authors are for you! If you’ve loved Shea’s writing style then you’ll love Isabel Ibanez’s.
If You Love Fake Dating
My next recommendation includes two rom-coms with the fake dating trope (which is one my favorites!). I read The Spanish Love Deception back in 2021 and really loved it. When I picked up The Love Hypothesis later in the year, the fake dating was really reminiscent to me. Both were in workplace settings and included a bit of travel. Additionally, the love interest had the whole pining for years thing going on! Both fake dating scenarios were just done SO well, too. So, if you loved the fake dating in The Spanish Love Deception, try The Love Hypothesis!
If You Love Epic Fantasy Worlds
For my last recommendation today, I’m passing along one that was given to me early in my time over on Bookstagram and after having the opportunity to read both, I wholeheartedly stand by it! Each of these fantasy stories have immense similarities. From the urban setting and angels x demons trope to the artsy main character and intense love interest! And while they have similarities, they are incredibly unique fantasy stories. Both are forever favorites for me and I’m excited to share them again with you. So, if you loved the epic fantasy world of House of Earth and Blood, you’ll love the one in Daughter of Smoke and Bone.

I really love it. So, let me introduce you to Literal Club!
