The Books I Read In December 2021
I feel like December went by in a blur and I’m still playing catch up 😅 We had a very low-key month with a lot of downtime, so I was able to get to so many good books and several holiday romances which I was very happy about!

Life Update
Honestly, this month was quite the doozy! My husband and I were both sick, and it ended up just being kind of a hard month because of that. And as soon as I thought I was good, I got pretty sick again! BUT. That left us with a lot of downtime which also allowed me to easily get to 12 books. That is fairly unusual for me. We had a mountain trip planned for just the two of us and the pups, as well, so we still did that despite being under the weather. And I am SO glad we did! We didn’t venture anywhere but the yard of our mountaintop vacation home, but that was just enough for me. The days were crisp and spent cuddled on the couch by the fire and I enjoyed reading Aurora Burning, Rootbound, and Window Shopping! It was a nice time away and I’m glad we still got to go.
We also spent a Sunday rearranging my bookshelves! We added an extra shelf per unit and I tried to figure out how I wanted to reorganize everything. I did a little purging in the process too which is always liberating. Needless to say, there are now no more piles of books on the floor! A definite win.
And then it was the week of Christmas and I was pretty sick again. We had to postpone our festivities and spent Christmas Day at home watching movies and eating good food. I actually got to make cinnamon rolls Christmas morning, so that was pretty perfect. I was also reading The Plight Before Christmas by then! It was a super lowkey week and I spent a lot of it in bed! And then it was the New Year. So bring it on 2022!
What book left the biggest impression on you in December (if you can remember at this point!)?
I think, for me, it was a toss up between The Plight Before Christmas and Always, In December.

Happy New Year! I know I feel and say this every year now in my adult life — but 2022 FLEW by! I mean flew. I still can’t believe it’s a new year, but I’d have to say, this time around I’m glad for it. 2022 was simultanously a good and very, very hard year for us and I was ready for that clean slate feeling of a new year. Today, I’m reflecting on my 2022 mantra and looking back at how those words actually took affect in my life.
