3 Books That Made Me Forget I Was Reading

3 Books That Made Me Forget I Was Reading

I love this feeling when I’m reading a book. Almost nothing compares. Losing time in a great story is one of my favorite pastimes. But not all books are created equal. Not all of them create this sense of being completely immersed and lost inside the pages of the story — like you could live there endlessly, never get enough of the plot and characters and yearn to get more of the story once you’re finished. Here are the last 3 books that did this to me.

THE SERPENT AND THE WINGS OF NIGHT by Carissa Broadbent

A vampire fantasy with wing spans, a deadly competition, fierce father / daughter relationship, shocking betrayal, a kingdom on the brink of war, and a slow burn, enemies to lovers romance. It feels like ACOTAR and The Hunger Games had a baby. And if you enjoyed Fourth Wing, especially the feel of the romance, you’ll love this!

Carissa is also a new-to-me author and now a new favorite! I can’t wait to read her backlist.

MR. WRONG NUMBER by Lynn Painter

A brother's best friend, forced proximity, roommates, enemies to lovers, and forbidden love romance– this was a treat! You can expect dual POVs, bantericious texting, lots of chemistry, and a love story that starts on page 1. I inhaled this in one day. Once I started, I couldn’t put it down!

This was my first Lynn Painter and I am officially obsessed. I must read ALL of her work!!

FOURTH WING by Rebecca Yarros

A dragon fantasy story set at an elite and highly deadly war college with a unique magic system, dragon riders, war trials, betrayal x rebellion, and a slow burn, enemies to lovers romance. If you’re on bookstagram, you’ll already know that this book is ev. vry. where. Everywhere. Everyone seems to be reading it at the moment and the FOMO is real. And having just finished it, I can honestly say it’s one of my favorites of the year!

I love that these were all new-to-me authors and that they’ve instantly become new favorites too. That’s another great feeling!

What was the last book that felt this way to you?
